Therapeutic use of cannabis for the chronically ill

CANNABIS USE: In some countries the drug is now being used for therapeutic use

The sale of marijuana is not the exclusive business of drug traffickers.

In some countries it is used for patients of chronic diseases including cancer and multiple sclerosis, some even permitting marijuana vending machines in the US. The therapeutic use of this drug is also widely used in countries like the Netherlands and Uruguay.

In Catalonia, Spain the process of using cannabis in this way is beginning to take hold. In recent years patients suffering from nausea after chemotherapy sessions, pains from multiple sclerosis or lack of appetite after developing AIDS, have been prescribed Sativex, a pharmaceutical preparation derived from cannabis, used for its medical benefits in alleviating side affects of some diseases.
