Thrilling MotoGP race set for Valencia on Sunday

THIS Sunday’s MotoGP race is one of the most anticipated sport event in recent times as Marquez, Rossi and his Yamaha team mate Lorenzo get set to compete in what should be an exciting finale in Valencia.

Rossi enters the contest as a nine time world champion. Marquez is the reigning champion and Lorenzo will make it three titles in five years if victorious.

Rossi started drama in the build up to the race by saying that Marquez made an attempt to disrupt the Italian in a previous race. Marquez spoke of his admiration for Rossi and said he made no such attempt however in the next race in Malaysia the Spaniard overtook Rossi as both riders went ride on the thirteenth lap.

Marquez fell from his bike after contact between the two and Rossi went on to finish third. The Italian was blamed for the fall and he will now start Sunday’s race from the back of the grid.

Spain and Italy have both backed their riders in the drama as Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy tweeted his support to Marquez and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi called Rossi ahead of the race.

In a press conference on Thursday in Valencia, the riders sought to place their focus on the race. Also in with a chance on Sunday is Briton Danny Kent who could become world champion in Valencia. As the Italian and Spanish contest makes headlines Kent will be looking to become the first British rider to win a grand prix world championship since Barry Sheene in 1977.
