Worst storm in years hits the Costa del Sol

EMERGENCY FUNDS: The government has promised to provide help to repair damage

HEAVY storms in the province caused flooding and damages to beaches in particular again, on Sunday and Monday (November 1-2) all over the Costa del Sol.

Malaga city’s beaches were particularly badly hit, and a cruise ship was forced to wait more than three hours before conditions were safe enough for it to enter the port. To the west of the coast La Linea suffered particularly bad flooding, and east of Malaga the Axarquia area saw its beaches virtually washed away as five and six metre high waves pounded the coasts.

The Spanish government has promised to provide emergency funds for particularly badly hit areas to help repair the damage from what has been classed by some as the worst storm in the area in 25 years.
