SEWAGE leaks at Malaga City’s Materno Infantil children’s hospital are putting important records at risk and staff have had to cover patients’ records with plastic sheeting to try to avoid them getting damaged, the CSIF-Malaga trades union has reported.
CSIF said the leaks are caused by the bad state that the drain pipes are in and complained that mess is piling up on the walls and floors, making the archives an unhealthy place for workers and endangering the documents and records stored there. The union also said parts of the ceiling have recently fallen down.
In addition, the union says that it has informed the hospital management and health and safety department of the situation and also warned of the danger of the archives being damaged, as happened some months ago when a burst pipe destroyed thousands of medical records.
The union has made it clear that in its opinion, the documentation department and its staff are being neglected but still provide an excellent service in spite of the conditions they are working under.
