PALMA City Hall has announced that it plans to increase the number of buses which allow dogs on board.
According to the councillor for Mobility, Joan Ferrer, the council is analysing the way to adapt more of the Municipal Transport Company’s (EMT) bus lines so that people can travel with their dogs. EMT says that this would probably not be done on the busiest routes, but the council has reported that all will be taken into consideration.
Since the first bus was opened to dogs in November 2013 on route 30, ticket sales have risen constantly. Two more, numbers 2 and 20, were launched in June. Last year, 593 tickets for dogs on the three routes were purchased at €0.30 each. So far this year, 717 tickets have been sold. The EMT also reports there have been no issues or complaints regarding dogs on buses.
