COSTLY GRAFFITI: Parents left out of pocket

PARENTS have been ordered to pay €4,300 after their son spray-painted a train carriage at El Carmen station in Murcia.

The 15-year-old was caught applying the graffiti by a guard, whilst the rest of the group managed to run away.

The youngster was also sentenced to 50 hours of community service for his actions, but this was lowered to 25 hours after his parents appealed through the provincial court, but they still had to pay damages and compensation. The amount was established following information from rail operator Renfe on the cost of repairing the damage after removing the graffiti.
