UNDER WAY: Work to finish the new composting plant
The Provincial Solid Urban Waste Consortium’s composting plant at the Valsequillo environmental complex in Antequera could be up and running in December.
The plant will allow organic waste from the 89 municipalities within Malaga Province that make up the consortium to be turned into compost (biostabilised residues) which will be appropriate for use as fertilizers for agriculture and gardening.
The new composting plant, built between 2013 and 2014 by Egmasa and financed entirely with European funds, cost €20 million and should provide between 80 and 100 jobs.
