Alicante toy manufacturer expands to allow more European exports

THE Famosa toy manufacturer is moving its logistics centre from Onil to Alicante.

The company was initially reported to be moving to Valencia but has now decided on Alicante to enhance its ability to export to Europe from the new 18,000 square metre centre on the Las Atalayas industrial estate.

This is just a short distance from the company’s production plant, which will remain. The transfer will occur in November with the 36 workers moving to the new warehouse.

Famosa, whose brands include Nancy, Nenuco, Pinypon, Feber and Mutant Buster already distributes to several European markets for countries where Famosa has subsidiaries in France, Portugal and Italy, but now the company wants to expand the range to reach the entire continent.

The company employs 722 staff and at the end of 2014 had sold products worth €208.7 million compared to €206.5 million in 2013.

The increase in turnover contrasts with its main competitor, Mattel, which lost in the same period by 7 per cent. Hasbro and Lego, however, increased sales by 18 per cent and 22 per cent.
