EIGHT men and five women have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a nightclub in Porthcawl, Wales around 1am on Sunday October 25.
10 people are being treated for non life-threatening leg injuries in the hospital, while the other three attended an emergency department. A man has been arrested and taken to Bridgend police station on suspicion of drink-driving and dangerously driving his Audi A4 into the smoking shelter outside the nightclub.
Assistant director of operations for Welsh ambulance service, Nick Smith said, “The injuries were all to lower limbs with no one reported in a life-threatening condition.”
An 18-year-old woman who was helping South Wales police with the investigation has also been taken to the police station.
Supt Andy Valentine said, “This was declared a major incident by the police and ambulance services. All three emergency services were deployed to the incident and worked seamlessly to provide a fast and efficient response. All of the victims, eight male and five female, are now being treated in hospital for their injuries.”
