IN an aim to ease the transition from primary to secondary school and fight absenteeism, Velez-Malaga’s Social Services department has written a guide book for new secondary school pupils’ families and teachers.
This academic year, 950 youngsters have started secondary school in the town, Social Services councillor Zoila Martin explained, and the new manual aims to help their parents and tutors get to grips with their new environment.
Differences between primary and secondary school, changes experienced in teenage years, changing family circumstances and relations between families and schools are just some of the subjects featured in the guide, which will also be available to download from the council’s website.
