Every year there are around 170 incidents in Felanitx
FELANITX Town Hall has complained that the teams in office over the past six years have done nothing to help the local pound.
Now, it will have to be closed provisionally and 12 dogs living there will be placed with associations until it reopens. The town hall aims to refurbish it, provide funding, and reach agreement to allow it to be run properly. Since 2010, no money has been given to the pound, and in 2008 and 2009 it received only €200 per year which was invested in veterinary matters.
The local councillor for Infrastructures, Joan Aznar, explained that there has been no involvement at all. Every year, there are around 170 incidents involving animals in Felanitx, of which 140 are dogs. The Mayor, Joan Xamena, said that when they wanted to go to the municipal premises, they found they didn’t even have the keys.
