MALAGA is the Andalucian province that registered the largest growth in exports over the first seven months of this year, reaching €1.05 billion – 16 per cent more than the same period in 2014.
The news was announced by regional government delegate Jose Luis Ruiz Espejo at an export event for small and medium businesses in Malaga last week, which 400 people took part in.
Although Malaga is still sixth in Andalucia for total exports, it registered a much larger increase than Spain as a whole, where they rose 5.5 per cent, or Andalucia as a whole where they fell by 3.5 per cent.
Malaga’s ideal position within Europe but near Africa and with relatively easy access to America, is helping it to grow in exports, Malaga City Mayor Francisco de la Torre declared, and the recession has encouraged local businesses to look abroad for business in an aim to keep afloat.
