AN unnamed hunter has died in Galicia, Northern Spain, after a wild boar he was preparing to shoot attacked him on Sunday October 18.
The man bled to death after the attack in Laza, a village in the province of Ourense.
The hunter was tracking the boar with his hunting dogs when he shot the boar and injured it. He came closer to the animal in order to take a final shot and it made a charge and gored him in the leg.
The man’s right leg was punctured and he made an immediate call to the emergency services. He told them his location and when they arrived he was unconscious.
Two ambulances and an emergency helicopter team attended the scene at around midday on Sunday but they were too late to help the man. The injury sustained by the hunter resulted in a serious wound in his right leg and he died from a loss of blood.
The hunter is said to be a police officer from the neighbouring city of Verin.
Local Police spoke to Europa press and called the incident an “unfortunate accident.”
