Bike lanes to link coastal municipalities by next year

The municipalities in the Marina Baixa are looking for the best solutions to connect the towns with bike lanes. The initiative started by Benidorm that has seen Finestrat linked with the tourism capital has gained more attention from other neighbouring municipalities that now want to join the initiative, to create a path that links Alfaz del Pi, Altea, Benidorm, Finestrat and La Vila.

Residents in Alfaz del Pi and Benidorm have requested that the action is taken by the local councils, to help improve safety for those who wish to travel by bike and to connect the two towns. Alfaz del Pi is also looking at integrating a bike path on the promenade that already links the two town beaches.

The town hall in Benidorm has unanimously approved the motion for improved bike path access and has confirmed that the plans will enter into the budget for 2016, with works starting as early as 2016.
