A LORRY driver transporting 300 kilos of hashish from Melilla had a very unlucky day when his lorry was hijacked by two men armed with a Kalashnikov and then he was arrested.
Witnesses phoned the police to report they had seen armed men leap onto a lorry on the Mediterranean motorway in Motril and threaten the driver with a gun to force him to continue driving towards Granada.
National Police patrols were sent to locate the lorry and a high-speed chase ensued, the force reported. Once the lorry was stopped, both the driver and the hijackers were arrested and taken to a police station in Motril, where a search of the lorry revealed the drugs hidden in compartments in the sides.
