TEN people have been arrested in Murcia and one in Almeria, for allegedly belonging to a criminal organisation and for crimes against public health, drug trafficking, robbery and illegal possession of weapons.
Police dismantled the gang which was dedicated to drug trafficking between Africa and the peninsula. As part of the operation, they seized 4,040 kilos of cannabis resin and subsequently in the house search performed at the headquarters of the criminal group in Aguilas, officers recovered three guns, ammunition, four vehicles, computers, 42 mobile phones, two satellite phones and documentation relating to criminal activity.
The investigation began last summer after a man of Spanish nationality was arrested on the RM-11 between Lorca and Aguilas, for having 127 bales of hashish resin in his van. Officers tracked the 33 year-old’s involvement to a criminal gang based in Murcia and surveillance was established, tracking member’s movements.
Some of the suspects were identified as violent offenders with arrest warrants out for them for serious crimes.
