Ronaldo wins his fourth Golden boot for Spanish club Real Madrid.

TOP of all goal scorers in European domestic leagues last season, Cristiano Ronaldo accepted his fourth Golden Boot in Madrid on Tuesday October 13.

The Portuguese striker scored 48 goals in 35 Spanish league games for Madrid to win his third Golden Boot last season. He is now the first player in the awards´ 47-year history to receive the prize four times.

Lionel Messi scored 43 for Barcelona and finished second top scorer last season. Messi claimed the award three times, in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Ronaldo, on the other hand, has won the Ballon dÓr title for the best footballer in Europe three times whereas Messi received the title four times.

Ronaldo attended the ceremony with his mother, his son, Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez and club president Florentino Perez.  He spoke about his success after the ceremony:

“I never planned on winning four times. Maybe one or two yes but never four. I always want more. I know I am the only one to have four but I want more. That implies winning trophies with the world´s greatest club.”

“Real Madrid is a team that must win titles every year,” he added.

Ronaldo is now on 323 goals for Real Madrid, level with Raul the club’s all time leading scorer, and scored his 500th career goal two weeks ago.
