THREE people have been arrested in connection with a shipment of 465 kilos of cocaine seized from a boat in January.
The trio belong to an organisation dedicated to using pleasure boats to transport large quantities of drugs collected from larger ships off the coast of Alicante.
This latest seizure was made as drugs were found inside a boat moored in Torre de la Horadada. As a result, the boat’s owner and son were arrested, suspected of a crime against public health and being responsible for collecting drugs offshore, although they were not directly connected to the criminal group that had organised the shipment.
With the drugs seized, police carried out their investigations in an operation run jointly with the Organised Crime and Drug Enforcement team from the Guardia Civil, the National Police and the Tax Agency. Their work led them to three members of the drug ring; two Spaniards and a man from Montenegro.
