Finestrat Local Police talk about risk of children and the internet

THE Department of the Local Police in Finestrat, in collaboration with the AMPA CEIP Puig Campana School are offering talks to advise parents and teachers on the use of new technologies and the Internet with regard to children. The drive is an effort to prevent children and privacy being put at risk online. Parents will learn how to recognise the main threats that children and young people may encounter online and how to employ preventative strategies to protect them from the risks.

Police professionals warn that social networks, while being useful, can also be very dangerous at the same time. Hazards can lead to abuse, harassment, contact with strangers and inappropriate use of personal photographs and a threat to their privacy.

The campaign was launched last April and has gained a lot of support and so has been re-introduced this term as both parents and teachers believe it is essential to know and understand the risks and implement ways in which to protect children.
