EMERGENCY services in Tenerife have announced that three people travelling in a taxi were injured, one seriously, when the taxi was involved in a major crash with a bus on the road leading to Tenerife South Airport on October 10.
All three had to be freed by officers of the fire service from the taxi, which had its front completely caved in. The British passengers were a husband and wife in their 60s with the woman having to be resuscitated by emergency paramedics at the roadside after suffering a heart attack.
She was then driven 70km by ambulance to the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria where she is said to be in a very serious state. Her husband suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Hospiten Sur hospital in Playa de Las Américas for treatment. A third man suffered slight injuries and chose not to attend hospital.
The road was closed for a short period of time to allow a clean-up after the accident and the Guardia Civil are now investigating the cause of the crash.
