ELECTRIC: Latest model goes 250 miles before it needs charging.
AMERICAN electric car manufacturer Tesla have launched the Model X which they claim will be the safest car on the road today as crash tests indicate that it will receive a five star safety rating in all categories, the first SUV to ever do so.
The Model X has a large crumple zone to absorb the energy of a high-speed impact. The battery’s location on the floor gives it an extremely low centre of gravity, reducing the risk of rollover, common in many SUVs.
Standard on all models is automatic emergency braking and side collision avoidance to prevent accidents in the first place.
Every Model X carries a forward- looking camera, radar and 360 degree sonar sensors to enable advanced autopilot features.
The car will be made with all-wheel drive, a top speed of 155 mph and will have a range of 250 miles between charging.
