PIONEERING: La Herradura launched the programme to help prevent family conflicts.
THE Secondary School Villanueva del Mar in La Herradura has launched a pioneering initiative.
The ‘School for Parents’ has been designed as a way to provide parents with information regarding many different aspects of their children’s education. The first one, celebrated on October 7, was about relationships with teenagers, and was funded by the town’s Health Ministry, and Social Services Department.
“The main goal of this School for Parents is to prevent family conflicts, especially those which can arise between parents and their children, specifically when entering puberty,” said Head of the School, Luis Javier Contreras Rodriguez.
The course was divided into different sections covering education, rules and boundaries, communication, conflict resolution, behaviour patterns and leisure time, amongst others.
The courses will have a duration of 10 hours and will take place on October 14, 21, 28 and November 4.
