Elvin Burdon “ in flight”.
AS previously reported in EWN, Elvin Burdon, 71, and his friend, Manni Scharre, 65, were due to undertake a sponsored parachute drop with proceeds being donated by the Freemasons of Andalucía to the Butterfly Children Charity.
Following many months of preparation and raising awareness for the cause the day finally came and on September 26, the two of them bravely jumped 15,000ft out of an aeroplane to complete this challenge of a lifetime.
After the thrill of achieving their aim, Elvin said “The suffering of the children with butterfly skin is always in my head. Charity to me is more than just putting my hand in my pocket, I feel happy and proud that I was able to do something significant to help them.”
€4,500 has been raised to date, but this will no doubt increase as the story of their bravery and persistence is repeated around Spain.
