Dangerous roads under the spotlight

THE DGT traffic authority has published an updated list of black spots on Spanish roads including 28 within Malaga Province, many of which are in the Guadalhorce Valley.

The list, the DGT explained, is updated regularly following analysis of data on the number of accidents and victims and average speeds resulting in accidents. Thirty-five per cent of stretches pinpointed were new additions to the blacklist.

Within Malaga Province, 16 of the 28 conflictive points were located in the Guadalhorce with Coin, Pizarra and Cartama areas being particularly bad.

From now on, the DGT reported, the black spots will be under extra surveillance with mobile radars in place in an attempt to reduce accidents.

Costa del Sol area stretches of road included on the new list include the A355 from Casapalma to Marbella, the A366 from Ronda to Coin, the A367 from Ardales to Ronda, the A369 from Ronda to Gaucin, the A387 from Alhaurin el Grande to Fuengirola via Mijas, the A397 from Ronda to San Pedro, the A404 from Coin to Churriana, the A405 from Gaucin to San Roque, the A7052 from Churriana to Estacion de Cartama, the A7053 from Alhaurin el Grande to Fuengirola, the A7054 from Malaga to Pizarra and the A7059 from Cartama to Coin.
