CORDOBA BISHOP: Placed the first stone of the new complex.
A NEW building is to be constructed in Torrox for the best of the causes. Cordoba Bishop, Demetrio Fernandez, placed the first stone of the new complex ‘Cristo Rey’ (King Christ) which is to be constructed in the plot where a former residential complex owned by the Cordoba Diocese used to be located from the 50’s.
This new hotel will be managed by catholic religious association Caritas, and will have a total budget of €1.8 million. It will have 146 places earmarked for poorer children and youths from Cordoba, however, Fernandez said that all residents can access a place when they are available. It is expected that the construction works will be completed in 18 months.
“One day we came to visit this building and realised it was a treasure for Caritas and that we could not leave it in this condition,” said the bishop. After the experts issued a technical report, it was decided to demolish the original building and create a two-floor new building which will also have a chapel.
“Our aim is to have those who need it come to Torrox and enjoy its great climate as well as assist them with their spiritual needs,” finished the bishop.
