Annual Poppy Appeal launch

THE Royal British legion Poppy Appeal Launch 2015 will take place in Benidorm on Wednesday October 14.

Mayor of Benidorm Antonio Perez, Defence Attaché Captain Paul Lemkes, RN, The British Vice Consul in Alicante, Lloyd Milen, and Chairman of District North of the Royal British Legion in Spain, Nigel Hails, will all be in attendance.

The Parade of Standards will be led by the Torrevieja Pipes and Drums. The event starts at 12 midday from Calle Castello, proceeding along the Paseo de Levante beach towards the Dais at the Rincon.

They state: “This year, as we continue to mark the centenary of the First World War, The Royal British Legion is asking everyone to support the Poppy Appeal for the memory of the fallen and the future of the living.

“The legion created the Poppy Appeal to help those returning from the First World War. A century on from the start of that conflict, we’re still helping today’s Armed Forces’ families in much the same way, whether coping with bereavement, living with disability, or finding employment.”
