SINCE it opened on March 28 the Caminito del Rey (King’s Walkway mountain trail) near El Chorro has received more than 160,000 visits.
As of 2016, provincial leader Elias Bendodo has announced, visitors will have to pay a modest, reasonable price to visit the attraction. The reason for this, Bendodo explained, is that problems have been noted as people have booked visits but not turned up while others were unable to get tickets and left disappointed.
Future plans for the attraction, which has caught the attention of visitors from all over the world, include visitors’ centres and conditioning a 300-metre-long tunnel which would allow visitors to enjoy the views even when weather conditions force the management to close the trail itself for safety reasons.
