A DEMONSTRATION is being planned for October 22 in Alicante Province.
The organisation 22M along with more than 20 other organisations met at the University of Alicante to discuss plans for the ‘march for dignity’. Included in the meeting were representatives from political parties, unions, and social movements from Alicante, Elche, Santa Pola, San Vicente, El Campello, Benidorm and Alcoy.
The protest has been called once again to unify people against what the organisation claims to be a savage assault on the rights of the working classes by the government, with a specific focus on the debt repayment, which the organisation feels should not be paid from public funds that would otherwise be used for basic social services including healthcare and education.
The movement also believes the government has failed to mitigate the devastating housing crisis facing many Spaniards who are losing their homes, due to an inability to pay their mortgages, or to address unemployment.
