Festival of Legends in Marbella

ON Friday, October 2, the Festival of Legends opening gala finally arrived and it was certainly an evening to remember. From the red carpet to the canapés, the night was filled with joy and laughter at the Teatro Goya cinema.

The evening commenced at 8.30pm and the atmosphere was electric from the outset. Cars pulling up to the red carpet made onlookers wonder if the Oscar Nominations Awards were in town. The evening was presented with class and eloquence and was highlighted by guests arriving in top attire and dressed to impress while paparazzi queued outside to get the best snaps of the tribute acts. Guests inside took to the photo calls to show off their dazzling gowns.

The Teatro Goya Cinema in Puerto Banus is the new venue for the festival where it all kicked off with a bang as tribute acts including Elton John, Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley and Joe Cocker took to the stage to get the party started!

Audiences also witnessed inspiring speeches from Marbella Town Hall; councillor for Equality, Diversity and Foreigners, Ana Maria Leschiera, the director of The Presidents’ Club International, Kevin Harwood, the director of the Hard Rock Café, Puerto Banus, Jens Shaefer and of course directors of the Euro Weekly News, as main sponsor, Steven and Michel Euesden. Everyone who spoke reiterated that it was an honour to be sponsoring the festival and that they wish Chris King and Alberto Cohen (the organisers of the festival) every success and lots of luck with the event.

After cocktails, everybody went up to the cinema hall, ready to enjoy the show. At around 9.30pmthe hosts, Carmen Sanchez, president of theDespertar sin Violencia(Waking up Without Violence) association and Joaquín Escriña, from Marbella TV and Radio, introduced the organisers, the town hall authorities and the sponsors.
