Malaga city police to fine bars over terraces

BARS and restaurants that overstep their mark with tables and chairs on the streets will be directly fined by the police when a new bylaw currently being drawn up in Malaga City comes into effect.

Following recent accusations that the council is too lenient with regards to pavement occupation and numerous complaints from pedestrians in the city centre, the Commerce Department is working on a new improved version of the bylaw to toughen up conditions.

Whereas in the past Local Police officers had to start off a long, complicated process to report establishments they found to be taking up too much space, the new bylaw will allow them to not only fine the owners directly but also to remove tables and chairs immediately.

The department hopes the bylaw can be approved and put into effect for the beginning of next year.

Just like in Fuengirola… unless you have friends in the town hall or local police of course! Just like in Fuengirola…
