Air traffic controllers join complaints over Malaga’s second runway

THE fact that the second runway at Malaga-Costa del Sol airport is usually closed is causing unnecessary, 30 to 45-minute, delays for passengers, USCA air traffic controllers’ union claims.

The union, which has asked Aena airport management to open the second runway permanently, complained that Malaga is the only Spanish airport that has an extra runway but doesn’t use it all the time.

If the runway was to be permanently opened, USCA claims, passengers, airlines and the local and regional economies would all benefit.
