New generation facelifts

NON-SURGICAL: It is possible to get a lifting effect without surgery.

WHEN we think of facelifts, most of us think of a huge surgical procedure that will leave us swathed in bandages and recovering for weeks, but there are now some that are day procedures being performed under a local anaesthetic. With new and better techniques, even a full facelift is not as big an operation as it once was and other types of facelift can be less invasive. If you are not ready for a full facelift, one of these may be more suitable for your needs.

The mini-lift

The mini-lift improves the appearance of jowls and loose neck skin. Often performed under local anaesthetic, it is also known as the weekend facelift because it is possible to have the procedure on Friday and return to work on Monday.

The cosmetic surgeon makes an S-shaped incision around the ear, tightens tissue under the skin and removes excess skin.

The mid-face lift

Great for tightening sagging faces. The surgeon makes tiny incisions in the hairline above the ear, and inside the mouth. Fat pads in the cheek are pulled up over the cheekbone to lift and tighten the area.

Non-surgical facelifts

With advances in aesthetic treatment it is now even possible to get a lifting effect without surgery.

Radio frequency

The best radio frequency devices, such as award-winning Exilis Elite, can achieve outstanding lifting results. Thermal heating tightens skin and gives a smoothing and lifting effect to the face and neck.

Best of all, this procedure is completely noninvasive; not a scalpel or needle in sight.

Thread lifting

Using very fine surgical sutures and small insertion needles, the doctor creates a directional grid of threads in the face. The dissolvable, nonallergenic threads provide lift and tension to the skin, resulting in a lifted, better contoured and smoother face.

The lifting continues even after the threads have dissolved as the threads stimulate collagen and elastin production. Results improve over two to three months and can last one to two years.

Perfect for younger patients, or those who don’t want to undergo surgery.

Fillers

The new generation of volumising fillers can do far more than just fill individual wrinkles. In skilled hands, fillers can be used to shape and contour the face. By adding volume to the correct parts of the face, lifting is achieved.
