Murderer who stabbed Madrid teen found 18 years later

A MAN who investigators believe murdered 17-year-old Madrid teenager Eva Blanco Puig, has been found 18 years later after he committed the crime in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans, a village in the north eastern Franche-Comté region.

On April 20, 1997, Eva was raped and stabbed to death as she walked home from a nightclub in Algete (Madrid). DNA tests convey that the killer was a Moroccan-born man with Spanish citizenship.

The young woman’s body was found in a vacant lot with four stab wounds to her back the morning after the killing took place.

Eva was out with friends at a local nightclub and left around midnight. It was reported that it had been raining and Eva was offered a lift home, but decided to walk instead. A friend walked Eva 500 metres from her home on Carmen Conde Street, on the outskirts of town. Eva’s friend was the last person to see Eva alive.

The alleged killer left Spain in 1999 and lived in France with his wife and children. A European Warrant located the killer in Pierrefontaine-les-Varans and arrested him at 2.30pm on Thursday October 1, 2015.

Eva’s mother, Olga Puig stated: “It looks like God has heard me and given me some joy after so many years of suffering.”
