A MAJOR cleanup is underway in Monte San Miguel.
Mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana, ordered the environmental action in the area of Monte San Miguel, which was chosen to target the pileup of rubbish and waste.
As a result, nearly twodozen bags of rubbish were filled, containing glass bottles, plastic bags, paper and non-biodegradable materials.
“We have been trying to clean this emblematic area of Orihuela which is the busiest, but also the most neglected,” said Mayor Bascuñana, who also stressed that this initiative “is a symbol of the spirit that drives this team, we want to do things for Orihuela.”
As a result, the mayor called for the collaboration of people who frequent the area to help keep it clean and litter free. He also opened up the possibility of expanding this action to volunteers and “anyone who wants to work to improve our environment.”
