TORROX was awash with colour as it celebrated the ‘Happiness Race’, an event in which the runners are pelted with powdered paint, all for a good cause.
The non-competitive fivekilometre race took place across the old centre’s streets, having its departure and ending point at Plaza de la Constitucion, famous for the 1,100 colourful umbrellas suspended above the streets to shade the cheering crowds.
This race is an international initiative, which has already taken place in more than 200 cities across the world, involving whole families and groups of friends who each make a donation to participate.
It is estimated that more than €500 was collected during the day, from the more than 750 runners, with promises of more funds to come. All proceeds will be donated to a social project, focused on sustainability and environmental respect, which will be chosen based on participants’ suggestions.
