TORREVIEJA has reopened the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre after it was closed last month when shortcomings were reported in the building.
Following four technical inspections made in recent weeks and the amendment of deficiencies detected to ensure the safety of the public, it has been reopened.
The main areas where issues were detected was the absence of a plan of protection and emergency exits, as a fence had been blocking the emergency exit door that led on to Calle Ramon Gallud. More fire extinguishers have been installed and also signs telling visitors what to do in an emergency and where to go.
With these works carried out, Mayor Jose Manuel Dolon reported that he was happy that the cultural centre now meets with the necessary safety requirements and could resume business.
