POLICE have reported that they have arrested four people in connection with the assault on Jockey Aidan Coleman. The incident took place on September 29 around 5.10pm at Southwell racecourse and it has been said that Coleman, 27, has suffered minor injuries.

Two men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of assault and damage, and another woman for interfering with police.

The outburst occurred when two people had stormed into the changing room and, when asked to leave, the assault took place. Coleman stated,

“I think they had drunk that much that they didn’t know what they were doing.”

Coleman made his debut for the 2008 Grand National at the age of 19 and he was one of the youngest riders in history to start in the Grand National. In April 2009, Aidan won the Conditional Championship making him the leading Conditional Jockey in the UK for the 2008 season.

Coleman has won 54 races in Britain this season and is due to ride at Chepstow on Wednesday.
