RECENT Air Traffic Controllers’ strikes in Spain are causing up to 21 per cent of delays at airports in Europe, according to Eurocontrol.
They are striking to demand the cancellation of disciplinary measures for 62 controllers in Barcelona and Santiago de Compostela who took part in the closure of air space throughout Spain in 2010.
The delays at Son Sant Joan Airport in Palma de Mallorca were of between 30 and 45 minutes on average. The worst delays were registered in Barcelona.
