Isabel Pantoja entering Seville Prison
A PETITION from jailed singer Isabel Pantoja’s lawyers to have her released and the remainder of her sentence suspended has been turned down once again by a Malaga Provincial court.
The singer, serving a sentence for money-laundering at Alcala de Guadaira women’s jail, had applied for her release based on changes to article 80 of the Criminal Code, claiming that she was repentant and that her sentence had served as an example to the general public.
Yet, the court argued upon turning down the petition, she has not made up in any way for her crime plus if she was now released the public would lose faith in the system.
