Cannabis found in a “leafy suburb” of London
STARTLED police officers in Kingston, a suburb of London, responded to a call about ‘a few cannabis plants’ on Friday September 25 and found a small forest of the plants growing locally.
The ‘forest’ contained more than 150 plants, some of which were more than 5ft tall. An anonymous tip-off mentioning suspicious smelling trees led to the discovery.
PC Sarah Henderson, of Kingston borough, said: “The area these plants were growing on was the size of a football pitch, it looked like a small forest of Christmas trees and was complete with a gazebo. Whoever set this up used a really remote spot. The only way to get there was a 20-minute walk through wasteland.
Police have launched an investigation and are planning to destroy all of the plants. No one has been arrested yet in connection with the find.
