A TOTAL of 14,700 students began classes at Miguel Hernandez University (UMH) in Elche last week for the new academic year, 3 per cent more than last year.

The figures were released at the same time as the announcement that the UMH Science Park was to expand with a second building on campus.

Rector, Jesus Pastor, said meetings had been held with the Mayor of Elche, Carlos Gonzalez, to discuss the intention to expand over the next three years with the construction of new buildings, including an addition to the Science Park, which is almost at 100 per cent capacity and another, multipurpose centre for the campus.
