Bumpy weekend for local police in Motril

SEVERAL incidents resulting arrests were reported last weekend in Motril.

On Friday (September 18), authorities were called to an incident of domestic violence in the east end of the town, where a man had allegedly attacked his partner. On arrival, officers found an juvenile and a woman who said she had been threatened by her partner. The man was found shortly after and taken into custody.

On Saturday, police attended a shop where a 30-year-old woman was said to be causing trouble. Once there, officers found that the woman had physical injuries and seemed agitated and was displaying very aggressive behaviour and was speaking incoherently. Medical staff were unable to help her to calm down and she was later taken to a psychiatric institution for assessment.

The same evening, another woman was found with several injuries which were allegedly caused by her husband, who had also taken the couple’s underage child. The man was found and taken into custody and the minor returned to his mother.

On Sunday night, a man was taken into custody after driving recklessly in the area of Camino del Pelaillo. When the man noticed authorities he reportedly backed his car up in an attempt to crash against the official vehicle. He tested over the legal alcohol limit for driving and was taken into custody.
