SALOBREÑA has taken a step towards ending evictions in the town.

The town council has reached an agreement with the association “Stop Desahucios” (Evictions), through which the local government team has given a municipal office space for members of the platform. This will allow them to provide more counselling for residents of the town that may be facing issues with their mortgages or going through the traumatic process of foreclosure.

“This measure is one of the positive consequences of the plenary session in which we declared the town eviction-free,” said Social Wellbeing Councillor Maria Jose Garcia, who continued: “With this new anti-foreclosure office, we will be able to coordinate our work together with the platform to find solutions for these kinds of problems.”

Stop Deshaucios will now have an office on the second floor of the Town Hall, open to public on Tuesdays from 10am to 1pm, as well as at the Casa de la Cultura events hall on Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm.
