SCHOOL STARTS: Pupils have returned to classes for the new school year

TORREVIEJA has confirmed that 6,366 students started the new school year 2015-2016 in the 13 infant and primary schools in the locality.

Councillor for Education José Hurtado said there were 82 new primary classrooms in the municipality with an average of 25 students per class but the number of infant classrooms has been increased to 175 with a ratio of 30 children per class.

With regard to the Compulsory Secondary Education, ESO, they have enrolled 2,872 students and 320 spaces have become vacant, while the numbers of enrolments in school and vocational training are very similar to those of the previous year.

The councillor expressed confidence that the new dining service would be ready for the service to commence on October 1 at the CEIP Inmaculada and the tender for the contract for the maintenance of schools in the city with an annual budget of €180,000 will soon be announced.
