Armed police swoop to remove female stowaway from Norwegian flight at Barcelona airport

ARMED police in Barcelona removed a female stowaway from a London-bound plane after she managed to slip past security and scared passengers with her erratic behaviour on September 19. The woman in her 40s is believed to come from Eastern Europe.

It was ‘game over’ for the stowaway when passengers aboard Flight DY5164 noticed she was carrying several passports which made them suspicious of her. The passengers reported the problem immediately, concerned that she may have been a terrorist.

Suspense on board increased when armed police were brought in to remove the woman before the plane was about to depart. One passenger said that the situation was terrifying and that “we didn´t know if she was a terrorist” which heightened fears.

Once the police stormed the plane, there was a rush amongst passengers to flee the aircraft which resulted in a mother and a baby getting crushed in the panic.

Once all passengers were offloaded and the aircraft was searched they were then allowed to re-board the plane after a 90-minute delay.

“Norwegian can confirm that a passenger was removed from flight DY5164 from Barcelona to London on 19 September after boarding the aircraft without appropriate documentation,” a spokesperson said.

The flight arrived in London two hours late following the incident.
