Oscar Pistorius
SOUTH AFRICAN prosecutors are in dispute as they feel that the court got it wrong when the athlete was reprieved of murdering his girlfriend. This resulted in Pistorius being jailed for only five years for killing Ms Steenkamp.
The model and reality TV star died when Pistorius blasted four shots through the bathroom door at his Pretoria home on St Valentine’s Day 2013.
Pistorius revealed at his trial that he assumed there was an intruder in his home and that Ms Steenkamp was in the bedroom at the time.
The athlete faced public scrutiny and there is an ongoing argument that Pistorius should have been found guilty of murdering Ms Steenkamp and not the minor charge of culpable homicide.
The parole review board is predicted to meet to decide if Pistorius could serve out the rest of his sentence under house arrest.
The Court of Appeal is expected to consider the matter in November.
