THE beaches of the Orihuela Costa have almost returned to normal after the damage suffered from the recent rains and storms.
Councillor for Beaches, Sofia Alvarez (PP) said the state of the beaches is “nine out of 10” with most repair work being carried out.
Work still needs completing on the playground in La Zenia where the foundations were uprooted by the force of water “so that it will be installed in a new location on the beach” a work that is awaiting implementation. The councillor added that the mountain of seaweed on the beach of La Glea, also needs cleaning “as quickly as possible.”
Municipal crews have been working on the beaches, repairing damage with costs which Alvarez said were totalling “just a few thousand euros.” All other work “falls under the maintenance contract cleaning and garbage collection, so it is not a cost for the City Council.”
