Mother donates son’s organs after freak accident

ORGAN donation means the tragic death of a 12-year-old boy following a freak accident at a football match will give five other children the gift of life, the boy’s mother has announced.

Oliver Croker was watching Bampton Football Club play Bradninch at Kensham Park grounds on Saturday (September 12) when a hoop used as part of fencing somehow became lodged in his head, local paper Exeter Express and Star reported.

The boy was flown to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with serious injuries, then transferred to Bristol Children’s Hospital but sadly died on Monday.

The boy’s mother, Pippa, posted on Facebook: “We would very much like you all to feel so proud of Oliver this evening.

“Through organ donation he has given life to five other children. He will live on in them. What very lucky boys and girls they are!”
