LOS BARRIOS Council is putting forward a proposal for all involved in putting out a fire in the Herrizos del Mesto area on July 25 to be publicly acknowledged for their part in controlling the blaze.
The fire affected about 80 hectares of cork woods and Mediterranean hillside of great environmental importance, councillor for the Environment Miguel Alconchel said.
All the professionals involved in fighting the fire including Infoca forest firefighting and prevention and 112 Emergency teams, Cadiz environmental team officers, Los Barrios and Algeciras firefighters, Local Police officers, Civil Protection members and Guardia Civil officers were crucial to minimising the consequences of the disaster and saving people, possessions and natural heritage, Alconchel stressed.
