THE tiger mosquito has been detected in 28 municipalities within the Valencia Region.

It arrived in Alicante Province a couple of years ago but this summer its presence has spread like wildfire from north to south with the Ministry of Health confirming the insect outbreaks in 28 towns based on the count being developed by the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Valencia.

As a result, the Department of Universal Health has presented a package of 26 measures that will apply in the three provinces of the Valencia Region from this month, aimed at the prevention and control of this species, which has increased in numbers this year.
